23 Rover P5 (page 23 of 25)

Rover had been making solid, respectable but uninspired family and business cars, but the replacement for the 'Auntie' P4 was a significant advance which embraced modern techniques. The P5, which ran from 1958 to 1973, was the first Rover with monococque construction, and the range went on to include a stylish two-door coupe and, from 1967, a super-cruiser with the Buick 3.5-litre V8. P5s were also used by the Queen and other dignitaries, and were the epitome of the brand's old-fashioned values. The P6 was a little racier and less stately in its demeanour.
