21 Mini (page 21 of 25)

Many thought the new BMW-developed Mini would turn out to be a travesty, a betrayal of the original Mini ideals - but they were proved wrong as soon as it hit the road in 2000. Undeniably retro in its styling, yet succeeding where Volkswagen's Beetle failed by having a charm all of its own, the modern-day Mini is classless in its appeal, great fun to drive, and utterly irresistible. It has made small-car ownership highly fashionable - and it has ensured the survival of the former Rover production plant in Cowley, near Oxford - a rare success story in British manufacturing. Now with British-built engines, too.
