Conceived by engineer Gordon Murray as the ultimate roadgoing supercar, the three-seat F1 is remarkable in every details, right down to the 24-carat gold-lined engine bay for better heat reflection. It's thoroughly usable - but can also do 241mph and 0-60mph in 3.1 seconds, thanks to a BMW-sourced V12 and a weight of just 1,138kg. In production from 1993 to 1998, it held the title of fastest production car in the world for years, and as just 100 were made F1s change hands for prices near £1 million. 'Arguably the greatest car of all time,' super-collector Jay Leno once told 4Car. 'It does everything better, faster than any other car from 1900 to 2000. Nothing touches it. Even if the Bugatti Veyron ends up being faster [it is, but it's also far heavier] there is no comparison.'
