Paying supermini money for a Ferrari sounds pure fantasy, but the reality is the Mondial is one of the cheapest Ferraris around. Its narrow, elongated looks might not initially win you over but its heart's in the right place - under the bonnet.
Even the earliest cars boast an exotic V8, although with just 215bhp from the first-generation 3.0-litre, performance is modest. Best bet is to pick a later more powerful car that eventually gifted the Ferrari 2+2 with the performance it deserved.
Now the catch. To say the early Mondials had teething problems would be a major understatement. Original cars were plagued with electrical faults to such an extent that seasoned owners still always carry a fire extinguisher.
