M3 gains V8 : Here's the first 3-Series BMW to carry a V8: a 400bhp-plus 4.0-litre unit, fitted in combination with a six-speed manual gearbox or optional seven-speed SMG (Sequential Manual Gearbox) transmission. Its 0-60mph time is estimated at just over five seconds.
