V8 power : This time around, BMW is dropping the tried-and-tested straight-six engine option in favour of its new 4.0-litre V8, a chopped-down version of the V10 from the M5 and M6. This will develop 400-415bhp and come with six-speed manual or seven-speed sequential-shift (SMG) transmission. The engine is said to be mounted further back in the engine bay than before, to give a near mid-engined feel and better weight distribution.
