| Spy Shot: Toyota Yaris |
| These are the latest images of the new Toyota Yaris, which is expected to go on sale in the UK later this year. The new car shares its underpinnings with the Daihatsu Sirion already on sale here. The five-door version shown here has a chunkier, more substantial look than the current car, and the interior pic reveals a much cleaner, less fussy fascia design. The current car's centrally located round airvents are replaced by horizontal units, and the ventilation controls are arrayed in a vertical row, as opposed to the current horizontal layout. Also, the centrally mounted instrument binnacle is larger and more centred on the dashtop, unlike the current car's setup, which angles the binnacle in the direction of the driver. Expect a similar line-up of engines as used in the current car - 1.0 and 1.3-litre VVTi petrol units, plus the 1.4 D-4D diesel, probably with Toyota's latest D-CAT clean-burn technology and particulate filter. Warmed-over T Sport models will follow at a later date, and a yet more powerful version - perhaps with a turbocharged engine - is also expected.
