| Spy Shot: Mercedes-Benz B-Class |
| Mercedes has just launched the new-generation A-Class range - see our full Preview story for more details - and this includes a three-door 'coupe'-style variant. There's another baby Benz on the way too, however, to be called B-Class: this is the production version of the concept codenamed CST, or Compact Sports Tourer. Like the M-Class-sized GST - Grand Sports Tourer, to be badged R-Class - it will be marketed as a family car/4x4 crossover. This will put it further upmarket than conventional small family cars, and supports Mercedes' aim to provide an alternative to the Golf or 1-Series which is a bit more versatile. Although the A-Class is not aimed at American buyers, the B has been specifically developed with the US market in mind.
