| Rover's 45 saloon/hatchback is comfortable and pleasant to drive, but it's not the roomiest car in its class and it's long overdue for replacement. However, despite lagging behind most of its rivals in terms of style, dynamics and refinement, it's still worth a look at the right price - i.e. at a substantial discount, which is relatively easy to achieve as Rover dealers have a lot of unsold stock. The range currently consists of 1.4 (hatch only), 1.6, 1.8 and 2.0 diesel models, the diesel offered with outputs of 100bhp or 111bhp. And no, British Racing Green is not a compulsory paint choice, even though you'll have problems spotting one in any other colour, and the Union Jack flag badges are not mandatory either...
