| Pulling power: Four-wheel drive Rangers have a 108bhp 2.5-litre, four-cylinder turbodiesel engine, which delivers 196lb ft of torque. The Duratorq engine has an intercooler, electronic fuel injection, exhaust gas recirculation and diesel particulate catalysts, though it is not one of the latest direct-injection, common-rail diesel units. The two-wheel-drive models get a less powerful 83bhp, 144lb ft version of the engine. Ford has modified the five-speed manual transmission for smoother shifts between first, second and third gears, improving low-down pulling ability. |
