| About the Ranger: Ford claims that the Ranger now takes 30 percent of the UK pick-up market, and its sales have been growing since its launch in 1999. It also sells well in Germany and Spain, and 10,734 Rangers were sold across Europe last year. The Ranger is built in Thailand, in a joint venture with Mazda (the Mazda B-Series is the Ranger's sister model) and the factory could build up to 135,000 trucks a year, including 35,000 'knockdown' kits for local assembly in Columbia, Ecuador, Kenya, Malaysia, the Philippines, South Africa, Vietnam and Zimbabwe. Thailand was chosen for the factory as it is the second-largest world market for pick-ups after the USA. |
