Then there's the ruddy boot/load cover. I opted to have the soft cover when I first got the car, but then since then I have ordered, received and fitted the hard cover. Neither works very well, because the angle of the tailglass and shape of the boot entry make fitment a fussy, time-consuming, expletive-barking process.
Sadly, there's no quick fix because it clips on in three separate places - firstly onto the seatbacks, then at the tailgate pillars (both of which need to be attached before dropping down) and then onto either side of the boot's floor.
Before you load anything into the boot, the bottom bungees must be unclipped - which isn't much fun with an armful of bags in the pouring rain. The advantage of this soft version is, with a fully loaded boot, the cover can be rolled up and stashed neatly out of the way, just inside the tailgate. The disadvantage is that everyone can see what's up for grabs.
So why not go for the hardcover then?
Hello rock and hard place. The hard cover is a fixed parcel shelf with a hinged central section. This isn't attached to the tailgate, so again it's a case of dropping what you're carrying to lift the flap, which doesn't open up to the full width of the glass. It's tricky if you are trying to load anything other than small, soft bags.
