Sorry, Toyota, but my first reactions to the Auris haven't been particularly positive.
It doesn't help that I seem to be pathologically incapable of calling it 'Auris' - I keep finding myself referring to it as 'the new Corolla' or simply 'the Corolla'. Worse still, I even found myself in a supermarket car park standing behind a two-year-old Corolla, wondering why the remote central locking hadn't plipped open.
Does all this perhaps suggest that the Auris is much less of a development from the old Corolla (not necessarily a bad car, just a rather boring one) than it should have been? I'm certainly doubtful that it merited a complete name-change.
I'm also struggling to think of any distinguishing characteristics that this car has, individual touches or design features that have impressed me, or indeed anything that has really struck me in a positive light as worth commenting on.
