No matter what car you drive, one of the most annoying things that can happen with them is when they starting to play up for no discernable reason.

I'm not talking about the big things here - like the engine not starting in the morning or the steering wheel falling off in your hands - but those little things that really start to get on your nerves the longer they stay around for.

This is perfectly illustrated in my Micra, which has developed an annoying squeaky rattle somewhere in the roof just over my left shoulder: and no matter where I prod, shake or bang, it's still there. I even ripped the windstop off in desperation the other day as it looked like being the likely culprit but, sadly, it wasn't.

It's like I'm living in a real-life version of that old Golf advert where the guy goes quietly insane as his girlfriend's earring squeaks its way into his cerebrum, only to be quashed by some old Spanish guy with an oil can. Unfortunately, my problem isn't as easily rectified.
