We'd make sure our Mini came with the TLC service package, which is fully transferable to the next owner. This paid for five years or 50,000 miles of servicing cover, except for wear and tear items. There was even an enhanced TLC XL which covered eight years or 80,000 miles. But which model to choose? The Mini has two extremes. The basic One is just as much fun to drive as a Cooper and is only slower because an engine management chip tells it so. This is the budget choice. But the Cooper feels slow next to the S, so you might as well go for the more exciting option. Steer clear of some of the more extravagant specifications, unless a Union Jack on the roof is your thing. Our perfect model would be an S with Chilli pack and a strong metallic colour. The convertible is also hugely desirable and remains expensive.
