Truth is, the car is way better than that. Maybe not a million euros good - which, lest we forget, is not much less than Bugatti currently asks for a 1001bhp Veyron, but good enough to stand out as one of the most memorable road cars any humble road tester is ever likely to chance across.
Certainly if visual impact were the sole arbiter of excellence, it would be among the greatest in the history of the automobile. If you think the Reventon looks pretty amazing in these photographs, it is nothing compared to how it appears in the flesh. Inspired by the Lockheed Martin F22 Raptor fighter plane, its riotous assembly of angles, scoops and slats looks so stealthy that you wonder if it wasn't actually designed for slipping under enemy radar in some dystopian battleground of the future.
It's all carbon fibre, impossibly low and, finished in grey-green matt paint, oozes malevolence even when parked. And, no, you don't get a choice of colours for what, when you add VAT, would be a UK list price of around £840,000.
Under the engine cover lies Lamborghini's most powerful ever motor, a 6.5-litre V12, distributing its 650bhp to all four corners of the car via its e-gear six-speed paddleshift gearbox. That power output puts it beyond the McLaren F1 and on a par with the Ferrari Enzo, both of which, in terms of quantity built, are common as muck compared to the Reventon.
