Absence, as they say, makes the heart grow fonder, and after getting behind the wheel of our long-term Fiesta following a two-week absence, I realised I had forgotten how good this car is.
So what was the reason for the 'absence' then?
In my last report I said I suspected there was small hole in the rear box that had started to make the Fiesta sound a little more 'parpy' than usual.
Well, I was wrong. Ford investigated, then investigated some more and, just in case, investigated all over again. They compared our exhaust system with myriad other similar Fiestas and after all that work they found nothing. Oops.
As soon as I received the news I promptly took myself off to the Ear, Nose and Throat clinic at Watford General for a major dewax and after a nurse stuck a jet wash in my earhole I am pleased to report I can now hear a cricket scratching its rear end from 30 paces away. I also respond when people start talking to me, which is nice.
So life back with the Fiesta is now full of all quiet and tranquil loveliness then right? Er... Not quite.
