This was the first of the tarted-up Escorts, precursor to the Ghia. On the outside you got sports steel wheels, coachlines and the inevitable vinyl roof, while the interior featured screwed-on wood veneers, cloth seats, extra sound insulation and a more complete set of instruments than provided by lesser Escorts. The Weber-fed 1300 Sport engine gave 99 mph performance and there was the usual alert Escort handling. It was only produced for three years, so it's quite rare and regarded as desirable by the Escort cognoscenti. Many have fallen victim to boy racers.
