Car Design Yearbook 6

1. The Car Design Yearbook 6
Stephen Newbury, Merrell, £29.95

Now on its sixth edition, The Car Design Yearbook has become indispensable for anyone who takes car design and technical innovation seriously.

In addition to featuring every concept and production car unveiled in the 12 months between April 2006 and March 2007 - with at least six photos or illustrations showing each car from every angle - Newbury's book also includes profiles of some of the most influential designers working at the moment and special features on green machines and the changing uses of glass in cars. The author's trends, highlights and predictions chapter is also noteworthy, providing a useful round-up of what's happened in the past year and what's likely to happen over the next. At a shade under £30, it's not cheap, but compared to many other coffee table car books, and considering the quality of its content, it should beat the top of any car fan's wish list.
