One of our favourite MPVs, the Grandis now comes in under the £10,000 mark.
Why do we like it? Well, it just looks great, for a start - like an enlarged Evo, if you use your imagination. The driving experience is not too far off the sports saloon, either: low-slung and quite firmly-sprung, the Grandis is one of the more car-like MPVs, with neat handling and quick, well-weighted steering. Yet it's comfy to ride in, as well.

The Volkswagen-sourced diesel engine is the better option, but the GDI (gasoline direct injection petrol) isn't that bad - and is available more cheaply.
All models are well-equipped, with air con, a CD player, foglights, eight airbags and modern safety kit, and all the rear seats fold flat in an easy, clever process. The rearmost row of seats has limited space, but it's enough for children.
