The Sedona shook up the MPV market at its launch in 1999; it might not have been the most refined, sporty or versatile people-carrier but it was huge, very cheap and relatively cheerful.
The pre-2001 cars have limited abilities, with a single rearmost bench seat that can't be removed, but the revisions bought a split/folding/removable third row along with a much-needed more powerful diesel engine.
Kia Sedona
Generally reliable and tough, the Sedona is at least mechanically durable, although its cabin is rather low-rent. Opt for higher-spec versions, as not all earlier models had even ABS anti-lock brakes, let alone side airbags and other modern safety kit. The Sedona also scored poorly in the NCAP crash tests - just two stars - although side impact protection was improved in 2001.
Still, as we said in our original road test: 'like the Chrysler Grand Voyager, only much, much cheaper'.
