Infiniti is launching in Europe, and the second-generation FX is coming too: it's a huge luxury SUV-crossover, on sale late 2008.
The FX will come with a choice of V6 and V8 petrol engines, the latter a 5.0-litre, 380bhp unit in combination with a seven-speed automatic gearbox and electronically-controlled four-wheel-drive. Continuous damping control suspension, intelligent cruise control, distance control assist and around-view monitor cameras are offer, as well as rear-active steering, 21-inch aluminium-alloy wheels, bi-xenon headlamps, Bose audio system and solid magnesium gearchange paddleshifts.
This Mk2 FX has a longer wheelbase and wider track than its predecessor, and redistributed front:rear weight balance; it is also 90kg lighter, thanks to aluminium doors, and considerably more rigid. Still, it's rather large for the UK's roads, not to mention liable for the £25-a-day London congestion charge - the smaller Infiniti EX37 is probably a better bet for we Brits.
