A big American SUV from Ford? Are we serious?
Well, actually, we are. The Explorer America concept is very un-American in its fabulousness and would be a radical departure for Ford's successful Explorer model, if it were to be produced in this form when the new iteration goes on sale in 2010.
Sadly, with the tastes of US carbuyers so conservative, chances are it will be severely watered down. In the meantime, we can but dream...
6. Jeep Renegade
Dune buggies hold a special appeal to those of us old enough to remember the opening credits of The Banana Splits.
The designers of the Jeep Renegade must be of that age too, as this concept harks back to those hazy days of our youth, while bringing us bang up to date thanks to its use of a diesel hybrid powertrain. Throw in a cut-down speedster-style windscreen and hose-down neoprene interior and you've got all the ingredients for a fun day at the beach.
