General Motors' Saturn division has shown its third hybrid in Detroit: the Vue Green Line 2.
The compact Vue (closely related to the Opel/Vauxhall Antara and Chevy Captiva) already comes in Green Line form, with a simple integrated starter-generator and stop-start mechanism to cut fuel consumption, but the Green Line 2 adds a pair of electric motors and full two-mode hybrid system as well as lighter-weight wheels and low rolling-resistance tyres.
This model combines a direct-injection 3.6-litre petrol V6 with the electric motors and can give 30mpg (a 50% improvement over the conventional Vue V6), yet can still accelerate 0-60mph in 7.3 seconds and tow up to 3,500lbs. It'll go on sale in the US late this year.
