Hunan Changfeng has built versions of the original body-on-frame Mitsubishi Pajero (Shogun) and Pajero Ion (precursor to the Pinin) but now intends to update its offerings and export them worldwide.
The Liebao CS6 (as seen at the Shanghai Motor Show last year) is still on the old Pajero chassis, but has been styled by Pininfarina to give it a bit of design flair. More appealing is the Kylin, a five-door compact MPV powered by the 1.8-litre Mitsubishi petrol engine; Lotus is said to have consulted on its chassis development.
In other news from the Chinese manufacturers, Geely brought its version of the TX4 London taxi to Detroit, and Heibei Zhongxing said that it planned to have cars on sale in the US by the end of this year. The Zhongxing cars will be distributed by US firm Chamco, which has hired the technical expertise of Steve Saleen, and has ambitions for a 400-strong dealer network.
