Audi has confirmed that its TTS will be powered by the VW-Audi 2.0-litre TFSI engine developing 272bhp and 258lb-ft of torque.
The engine has been tweaked slightly, with a modified engine block, cylinder head, pistons and con rods, and has also received an extra turbo boost.
Both coupe and roadster versions will be offered; the coupe will be good for 0-60mph in 5.4 seconds and the roadster 5.6 seconds. Equipment will include adaptive suspension damping, 18" wheels (19-inchers are optional), uprated brakes, a specifically-development stability control system with sport mode, instruments including a lap-timer, and leather/Alcantara sports seats.
Sales in the US will start late this year and US-market cars will be offered with the S-tronic twin-clutch gearbox only; European models go on sale a little earlier and may also be available with manual transmission.
