Eh-oh, it's smaller than the Aygo! Toyota has made a tiny city car at its ED2 design studio in the south of France, following on from last year's Endo concept. Designed to take on the Smart Fortwo, Volkswagen's Up! and the Fiat 500, the iQ has a 3+1 seating layout to take three adults plus a child in an additional fold-out rear seat.
Although it's less than three metres long, the congestion-busting iQ is nearer the Yaris than the Aygo in width and height.
Interior space has been freed up by an ultra-compact heater module, a single central dial for ventilation and temperature controls, a three-in-one speedo, rev counter and fuel gauge read-out and audio/navigation controls in the steering wheel; navigation info is projected on a head-up display.
A long glass roof panel makes the cabin feel less claustrophobic, and it's all tricked out in eye-catching purple-trimmed upholstery and pearlescent white paint with a purple shimmer, while the steering wheel is trimmed in mock snakeskin.
