Mitsubishi's Concept cX previews a compact crossover that could fit into its range below the Outlander.
The cX has a similar road-biased four-wheel drive system, an electronically controlled torque-on-demand set-up, and the Evo's twin-clutch transmission. It is fitted with a new 1.8-litre diesel engine, said to be super-clean thanks to a catalyst with particulate filter.
Concept car touches include an interior made from 'green' plastics - materials derived from bamboo and plant-based resins - and flashy 19" wheels. The cX does look close to a serious production proposition, though: we'd bet that it's an early look at a more car-like successor for the Shogun Pinin.
And it could get some French relations as well if the Peugeot 4007 and Citroen C-Crosser take off. They're sister models to the Outlander, built for the French brands by Mitsubishi.
