Audi A4
The order book's now open and UK prices have been announced: the new Audi A4 will start from £22,590 with first deliveries next spring.
The new A4 is styled along the same lines as the new A5 coupe and has a longer wheelbase than the outgoing model, giving improved interior space and luggage capacity. It also has a completely new suspension and steering layout with reduced front overhangs and better weight distribution. Four-wheel-drive Quattro models now have a 40:60 front-rear torque split for more of a rear-wheel-drive feel.
Options include LED daytime running lights, as well as Audi Driver Select, a three-mode selectable system with Comfort, Auto and Sport settings for throttle pedal response, transmission shift points, power steering assistance and shock absorber preferences.
Features adopted from the larger A6 include an electromechanical parking brake, the multi-media interface (MMI) control system, DVD sat nav with 7" colour screen, ventilated seats and a 505-watt Bang & Olufsen sound system. Further new features on offer include lane departure and blind spot warnings.
Engines for the new line-up will initially include 1.8 turbo and 3.2 V6 petrol units and 2.0, 2.7 and 3.0 diesels, with a choice of six-speed manual, Tiptronic auto or Multitronic CVT gearboxes. SE specification level arrives first, with standard keyless entry, three-zone climate control, MMI multifunction interface with colour display, rear parking sensors, automatic wipers and headlights and aluminium trim. Other trim levels will follow.
