The five-door CR-V looks smart, carries a family with ease, is well equipped and drives and rides like a car - but best of all, it's one of the most reliable cars around. And it's easy to find a well cared-for example as few will have led a hard agricultural life and Honda buyers tend to be responsible people who look after their cars.

The CR-V is little more than a jumped-up estate car, but it does have an automatic four-wheel drive system that sends drive to the rear wheels when necessary. It's good enough for slippery roads and fields, if not mountain climbing.
