Renault Kangoo Trekka

The Kangoo is the modern-day equivalent of the Renault 4: a budget-priced super-utility vehicle, essentially a load-lugging van with seats plus loads of storage boxes, optional overhead lockers and other cargo-carrying facilities. And the Kangoo Trekka goes a stage further: its suspension is raised by 40mm and it gains a part-time four-wheel drive system from Nissan.

This may not be a viable option for anyone obsessed with image and owning a status symbol, but the Kangoo Trekka certainly has plenty of utilitarian chic. With its colourful wipe-clean interior, boxy outline and friendly face, it even has character as well.
