Driving experiences are all about fulfilling aspirations.
We are constantly bombarded with images of glamorous people doing fabulous things - and we want some of that action too, thank you very much. So for those of us for whom fast cars would be the first thing on a post-Lottery win shopping list, driving days are the perfect present.
But they're not all about driving supercars: sure, you can find all kinds of people offering days driving the 'usual' Astons, Ferraris and Porsches, but there are also opportunities to something a little different, from go-karts to tanks.
One thing to remember about the suggestions below: it's a fast-moving and rather precarious industry, and it's not unheard-of for companies to go bust. 4Car can't vouch for any of the companies listed below: they're just the ones we think are doing the most interesting days.
Red Letter Days is one of the longest-established companies in a market that sees quite a high turnover of companies offering driving experiences.
It has over 40 different driving experiences on offer, including specialist days for women drivers, dumper truck driving, rallying on ice and F1 - in addition to the 'bog standard' days behind the wheels of the usual supercar suspects.
