This week Porsche announced prices for its new 911 Turbo - it'll cost you more than £100,000.
Now that's a lot of cash for a sports car and if you are considering trading in your old set of wheels for a 911 under the government's scrappage scheme you'll make a tiny dent in the asking price.
So here's an alternative: hold off on the Porsche and instead buy a £2,000 sports car. But what on earth can you get for two grand?
Well, quite a lot actually and here's a selection of two-grand sports cars that, although not quite in 911 Turbo territory, are still capable of putting a smile on your face.
Alfa Romeo GTV
Holy moley, who'd have thought you could have this much sensational-looking car for so little cash? The Alfa Romeo GTV is one of the best looking cars of the past two decades and at £2,000 still has plenty to offer in the style stakes. It also happens to be a keen drive, with sharp handling.
The V6 models are seriously swift, but the 2.0-litre makes more sense for its lower running costs.
Be sure any car comes with the red master ignition key as this is very expensive to replace. Alloy wheels corrode and badly repaired accident damage will lead to rust. Also, check the cam belt has been replaced every 36,000 miles or face engine Armageddon.
