Perodua Kenari

Perodua Kenari

Perodua Kenari EZ

Price: £7,412; 0-62mph: 17.7; Top speed: 87mph; Engine capacity: 989cc; Power: 58bhp at 6,000rpm; Emissions: 165g/km; Average fuel consumption: 41.5mpg; Boot capacity (min/max): stats unavailable

We're not that impressed with the carbon dioxide emissions on the Kenari EZ - at 165g/km it's on par with a modern-day four-door family saloon and that's something that's going to get up Al Gore's nose.

It is, however, cheap and monumentally ugly. If you are going to go for a Kenari, accept the fact that you are driving the John Merrick of autos and that you are doing your bit to prematurely end the life of Earth.

Renault Kangoo

Renault Kangoo

Renault Kangoo 1.5dCi 68

Price: £11,950; 0-62mph: 19.6; Top speed: 91mph; Engine capacity: 1,461cc; Power: 68bhp at 4,000rpm; Emissions: 138g/km; Average fuel consumption: 54.3mpg; Boot capacity (min/max): 650/2600 litres

It's always bothered us that there's a vehicle on the market called the Kangoo but we can't really count that as a reason to avoid this gutless wonder.

Although it's got a fairly sizeable engine under the bonnet, it's relatively poor at accelerating. On the plus side you get a decent-sized load area and reasonable fuel economy.
