Changan E301
Changan E301
Citroen C-Cactus meets Mad Max? The E301, with its gullwing doors and asymmetrical layout, is an oddball crossover concept said to feature a hybrid powertrain, though we doubt it's a fully working prototype.
A high-riding jeep-type urban warrior, its roof extends full length on one side only, before ending abruptly at a sharply cut-off black-trimmed tail. Unlikely to see production, but it's eye-catching, and now we've all heard of Changan Motors.
Geely IG
Geely IG
One of many models in Geely's product offensive, the cute little IG is one of the more convincing electric city car concepts on display. This 'Intelligent Geely' is just 3m long, and like the Toyota iQ which has clearly been an influence, it seats three - but in a layout positioning the driver ahead of a passenger each side. Battery power is supplemented by a roof-mounted solar panel.
Chery Riich M1
Chery is itching to start exports to the West and the Riich M1 city car is one of its most likely products to make it to Europe. Though just 3.6m long, it's said to offer more than 1,000 litres of luggage space with its rear seats folded, and it goes on sale in China with a full complement of airbags, ABS brakes and features including electric windows. Though the initial production model has a 1.3-litre petrol engine, Chery also showed an electric Riich M1 concept, with 40kW motor and lithium-ion batteries.
Guangzhou Li Nian Roadster
Guangzhou Li Nian Roadster
Guangzhou Auto has a joint production venture with Honda, and this roadster concept looks suspiciously like the Honda OSM, seen at last year's British Motor Show. Could it be based on the underpinnings of the upcoming CR-Z hybrid coupe?
Honda is developing its Li Nian brand, to be trialled in China and India, to appeal to younger buyers, and will offer a series of affordable and accessible models. This roadster may resemble the S2000, but if it comes to production, it'll be more of an Mazda MX-5 rival.
