BMW 7-Series (Tomorrow Never Dies)
In a cynical act of product placement, Bond is teamed with the most unlikely car: a BMW 7-Series. What follows is a modern V12 BMW versus an ancient threesome of a W126 Mercedes S-Class, a Vauxhall Senator and a decrepit Ford Granada.
To make the chase even more farcical, Bond spends the whole sequence cowering in the back seat, piloting the big BMW using his product-placed phone. Thankfully the chase ends with the 7 hurtling off the top of a multi-storey car park.
Renault 11 taxi (A View to a Kill)
After Grace Jones parachutes off the Eiffel Tower, Bond - played by smarmy lothario Roger Moore - is forced to give chase in whatever's to hand. In this case it's a humble Renault 11 taxi.
The 11 survives a dramatic reversing manoeuvre down some steps and plenty of market stall steamrollering, but meets its match when it gets decapitated by a barrier and sideswiped by a bigger Renault 20.
Despite being split in half, it carries on the chase - not a promising indication of how well an 11 would fair in Euro NCAP crash tests.
