The best one: Citroen C1
Price: £7,295
Typical, our favourite 'cheap' car is actually the most expensive in our list.
But there is good reason why we chose the C1 as the best in our selection of Britain's Cheapest Cars.
First off, it's the quickest in a group of amblers. The C1 sprints to 62mph in a class best of 13.7 seconds, hits 98mph (0.7mph slower than the Savvy), averages an incredible 61.4mpg and emits just 108g/km of carbon dioxide.
Then there's the quality of the engineering. Developed with Peugeot and, more importantly Toyota, you know it will last.
There's even space for four real adults.
Better still, we chose Citroen instead of the Peugeot 107 or Toyota Aygo because you have a fighting chance of a decent discount at the dealer, limiting the impact of that comparatively scary list price.
