Feature: Game: RC Laser Warrior

You pick a car and a colourful warehouse-style arena, and you're off. Choose the vanilla race mode and you just have to be first across the line, but there's also a destruction mode in which you get in touch with your inner psycho, rampaging around the track and causing as much chaos as possible to the existing race.

Some tracks suit this mode better than others - don't get put off if you pick a dog - but the mode is substantial enough to be more than a silly distraction.

RC stands for Remote Control, and at times this can provoke hollow laughter - you'll be colliding, exploding, spinning and running into walls so often you'll wonder if you have any control at all. This is all part of the fun. Think of a bouncier, racier version of the old Mario Kart battle modes, complete with deadly homing missiles that always raise the cry 'hey, no fair!'

RC Laser Warrior is straightforward, knockabout fun. The unlockables are a nice touch as always, but entirely unnecessary - the fun comes entirely from the sheer thrill of the race while shooting the opposition to blazes - once you get used to the controls, of course.

Controls
Arrow keys to drive, space to brake, and left shift to fire weapon.

Tips
Like Mario Kart, pick-up weapons disappear for a short time when nabbed by another car, so look out for pick-ups that appear outside of the computer's racing line. The homing missiles are the ones in the yellow boxes, often appearing tucked away in short-cuts and secret areas.
