5. Ford Fiesta (1999-2002)
There are loads of Fiestas around to choose from in a multitude of engine/trim combinations, cheap to buy (especially if bought privately), and cheap to maintain, with rock-bottom parts and servicing prices as anyone can work on them, and parts are stocked at any aftermarket retailer or fast-fit place.
Ford Fiesta
It's not particularly inspiring to drive nor is it in any way eye-catching, but it certainly delivers low running costs and good value for money.
The pre-2002 Fiestas are more fun to drive than the version that succeeded them (the mini-Focus lookalike) and are now very cheap.
