4. Ford Ka (1996-08)
The much-loved Ka, first launched in 1996, is still selling well: from very sparsely-equipped entry-level cars with wind-up windows and economy trim to with-everything LuxuryKas, it's a popular purchase.
And with good reason: it's cute, fun and easy to drive (learner drivers love 'em) and really rather lovable. It's everything a runaround needs to be.
Ford Ka
It's an elderly design, meriting only a three-star NCAP crash test score, but most newish examples will have airbags and ABS.
Watch out for Kas which have taken punishment from learners: the best bargains will come from buying privately - there are plenty of truly low-mileage, one-lady-owner Kas out there.
