Want power but don't want to pay Porsche prices? You could do a lot worse than look to the Japanese manufacturers, who have consistently turned out high-performance, high-specification coupes to fuel the fantasies of PlayStation players and small boys of all ages. With most of these cars, you have a choice: buy a UK-market car from a UK main dealer or private seller, or go the import route. This is potentially more risky, but considerably cheaper, whether you buy from an established import agent, a private individual or purchase direct from Japan yourself. For some of these cars, you have no choice other than to buy an import anyway, especially if you're after a nearly-new example. Either way, you can find yourself a lot more coupe for your money than if you buy a more mainstream European vehicle. Read on for a rundown of our favourite Japanese performance coupes.
