This car, a revival of Alfa's 1750 Gran Sport of the '30s, was a cut above most of its ilk, because it was produced by its original progenitors, Alfa and Zagato. The inspiration came from the Italian car magazine Quattroroute, which persuaded Alfa to build this modern tribute to the '30s classic on a modified version of its current Giulia 1600 chassis, but with the track narrowed and the wheelbase lengthened to give it more of the flavour of the original. Zagato fitted its hand-beaten panels to a tubular frame, and the result was a remarkably pleasant car - it was extremely good to drive - even if the purists had little time for it. Only 92 were built and they are now highly prized by Alfa collectors.
