| Eventual winners Volvet underground leading their race |
 |
Andy and Tom arrive with celebratory beer. To victory, gentlemen. Except that the actual overall winner, beating the 20 other finalists, is the excellent Volvet Underground team, who led-home the team Silly Suds' bathtub, the Sheoper Shonic shoe and one of my personal favourites, Truckfinder's exquisitely made vintage steam-powered-truck-alike. With our crowd points, the win, and the points from judging, we finish joint 53rd overall.
So, that's three-hundred man-hours in the garage, for a finish in the bottom thirty and including two runs totalling a minute and a half's enjoyment. Granted, I've been on dates which have proved less profitable, but it's hardly the most efficient return on our labour.

| Anyone fancy a race? |

What we need is somewhere else to race the 4Car machine. Maybe with a few mods (working brakes and so on) I can swing the downhill race at Goodwood's Festival of Speed next year. Or apparently, until ten years ago, there was even a national soapbox association with regular races. Suggestions on an email to mprior@4car.co.uk.
