History lesson
A proud history of car-making
The other British machines I have which mean a lot to me are Vincent motorcycles and the Jaguar. In 1951 the fastest two- and four-wheeled vehicles you could buy were English. The Vincent Black Shadow did 130mph and the Jaguar did 128mph.

To me the British car and bike industry has always been fabulous. The Mini is probably the greatest car design on the 20th Century. I'll get a Mini one of these days.

Humber Super Snipe
Super Snipe: what a name
The British people might be into cars but I don't think the government is. It is probably the most anti-car government on Earth. It goes back to the Emancipation Act with red flags. Now there's the tax on fuel, the speed cameras, not driving your car into the city...

The big difference is that Brits care for things when Americans don't. In America when you see a guy driving a '57 Chevy, he's restored it, it's a classic. In England if you see a vicar pull up in something from the Fifties or Sixties like a Humber Super Snipe (I love that name); it won't be a restored classic, he'll just say "I've been driving it since new!"
