Lexus showed its RX 350 SUV, which replaces the RX 330 later this year.
It comes with a more powerful 3.5-litre engine that is also more fuel-efficient and quieter than the outgoing engine, developing 270bhp and 251lb-ft of torque, giving a 0-60mph acceleration time of 7.4 seconds. Fuel economy is put at just 21mpg, however. Five-speed automatic transmission is standard-fit; US buyers will be offered a two-wheel-drive version, but in the UK, we'll see four-wheel-drive models only.
Minor enhancements to the RX for the 2007 model-year include a new windscreen with better sound-proofing and additional sound insulation in the door panels, instrument panel and floor mats. A new satellite radio-compatible audio system with six-CD autochanger will be offered in the US, though final specs haven't yet been confirmed for the UK. The top-end Mark Levinson hi-fi option will continue, along with a DVD entertainment system and new-generation satellite navigation, plus parking sensors with rear-view cameras. A new tyre pressure monitoring system is fitted, too.
