Going on sale in late summer, the Escalade comes with GM's new 409bhp 6.2-litre V8 engine with variable-valve timing and six-speed automatic transmission.
Safety kit includes roof-mounted head-protecting airbags and stability control. Equipped to luxury standards, it will also come with a Bose surround-sound audio system, climate control, power-folding/tumbling second-row seats, power-folding side running boards and - bling alert - chrome wheels.
We Europeans will not, however, be offered the ESV long-wheelbase and EXT pick-up versions of the Escalade and it will come in left-hand-drive form only. Prices will be announced nearer to the launch.
