The name - thankfully, for those who remember a similarly-labelled low-alcohol lager - will be changed for the production model, but otherwise, this is pretty much the car Chrysler subsidiary Dodge will offer as an all-American alternative to the likes of the Golf, Focus and Astra. Developed in partnership with Mitsubishi, which will offer it as a new-generation Lancer, it will also be sold in the States as a Chrysler, replacing the old Neon. Keeping much of the styling of the original prototype called Avenger - another name with dodgy connotations for British buyers - it will be offered with a full line-up of Euro-friendly engines, including a Volkswagen-sourced 2.0-litre diesel, when it goes on sale in early 2006.
