The Koenigsegg CCR isn't a new model - it's been around since 2002 - but since it is in the Guinness Book of Records as the fastest car in the world, it merits a mention. "Our cars are for customers who want something unique", said a spokesman. "They're people who understand technology and don't want Ferraris or Lamborghinis." Koenigsegg owners include race drivers, collectors and even a 74-year-old lady, apparently, but one thing all buyers of this Swedish supercar have in common is money. Basic prices for the "entry-level" CCS8 start from €425,000, excluding VAT, and the higher-powered CCR costs from €458,000, before even looking at the extensive bespoke options and accessories lists. The company will make just 15 cars this year.
So how fast is it, then? Since you asked, the CCS8, with its 4.7 V8 delivering 655bhp and 550lb ft of torque, does 0-60 in "under 3.5 seconds" and a top speed of 240mph. The CCR - developing an awesome 806bhp and 678lb ft - does 0-60 in 3.2 seconds and "242mph-plus". Phew.
