The razor thin door mirrors will be missing from the finished article. They look great but would be useless in the real world, where you have to share the road with other cars. And a mass produced car like this won't have a hand-stitched leather interior either, or the liberal use of aluminium around the cabin.
It will, however, have a roof. Smith claims it's pretty good at replicating the coupe version's chop top look. The rear screen won't be as steeply raked, though at least it will be made of glass and Smith confidently predicts that it will contribute to low wind noise and good overall refinement.
But people over here aren't going to be buying this car for its finesse. Camaro convertible buyers will want to have the hood down. They'll love that throbbing V8 rumble and they'll enjoy owning a car that makes its European rivals look a bit puny. And if the production model fulfils the promise of the concept, what they'll get is a car that lives up to the legend.
