Lexus, the premium brand of Toyota, shocked the prestige establishment when it was launched in 1990. Not only was the Lexus LS quieter and more refined than the competition, it was better built, significantly more reliable and, at the time, an engineering masterpiece.

Almost 20 years later little has changed. The Lexus brand is still a pioneer in new technologies and has branched out to rival the BMW 3-Series with the Lexus IS, the 5-Series with the Lexus GS, and the Mercedes-Benz SL with its folding tin-top the Lexus SC. There's even has a 4x4 - the Lexus RX.
